Terms and Conditions
Hi, I'm Alice Nettleingham, the founder of The Non Smoker. I'm so glad you're here. Before we work together, I want to make sure we're both clear on how my work is done, what you can expect, and the agreements that keep our working relationship respectful, safe, and helpful for us both.
By purchasing any of my services, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully. They're here to protect both of us.
Our Terms and Conditions were last updated on 21st May 2026.
1: Who I Work With
You must be 18 years or older to take part in my services. By purchasing from me, you confirm you have the legal capacity to enter into a contract.
I work with people who want to stop smoking permanently. If you are dealing with significant mental health concerns, a serious heart or lung condition, are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking prescription smoking cessation medications such as Chantix (varenicline) or Wellbutrin (bupropion), I recommend you consult with your GP, midwife, or treating clinician before booking. My work is powerful, but it is not a replacement for medical, psychiatric, or psychological treatment.
I reserve the right to decline working with someone if I feel my services are not appropriate for them.
2: The Work I Do (and What It Is Not)
I help people stop smoking using a conversation-based method that addresses the patterns, habits, and emotional jobs smoking has been doing for them. Sessions are deeply impactful, but they are not medical treatment, therapy, or legal advice.
I do not diagnose, treat, or cure medical, psychological, or addictive conditions. Your results depend on your own openness, honesty, and willingness to engage with the process. I cannot promise specific outcomes. While most of my clients stop smoking permanently within three sessions, I do not guarantee any individual result.
3: How We Work Together
When you book a paid programme with me, you receive:
- Up to three conversation sessions, each approximately 90 minutes long and up to 2 hours if useful, within a three-month window
- Three months of Messenger or WhatsApp access to me, starting from the date of your first session, for questions, support, and integration
- Fortnightly check-ins from me to see how you are doing
Most clients need only one or two sessions. You book your second and third sessions if and when you need them, within the three-month window. The work is complete when you have stopped smoking and feel confident in your ability to remain a non-smoker.
Before your first session can take place, you need to complete the intake form I send you after your booking is confirmed.
If you would like ongoing support beyond the initial three months, this can be discussed at the end of your support period.
4: Payments and No-Refund Policy
All purchases are final. I do not offer refunds under any circumstances, with one exception.
If, after reviewing your intake form, I assess that my work is not appropriate for your current situation (for example, if your circumstances would be better supported by specialist mental health care that is outside the scope of what I offer), I will refund you in full and help guide you towards more suitable support. In this circumstance only, the no-refund policy does not apply.
Before you purchase, please take a moment to feel into whether this work is right for you now. The work asks for your full commitment, and in return, I bring my full commitment to you. The free call is the place to ask any final questions before booking.
Current pricing is displayed at the point of booking. Payment is due at the time of purchase.
5: Cancellation Policy
When we work together one-to-one, your session time is reserved just for you. Please arrive promptly so you receive the full benefit.
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule, except in genuine emergencies. If an emergency arises, please let me know as soon as you can.
If you miss your session without giving the required notice, that session is forfeit and you will have used one of your three. It will not be rescheduled.
6: Showing Up to Sessions
For our work together to be effective and safe, you must arrive at every session sober and substance-free. This means not under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs, or any substance that affects your awareness or ability to engage with the process.
If you arrive at a session under the influence, I reserve the right to end the session immediately. That session will be forfeit (you will have used one of your three) and it will not be rescheduled.
7: Between-Session Contact
You can contact me between sessions via Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. I respond within 48 hours, with Wednesdays and Sundays as my days off (Indochina Time, ICT). Messages sent on my days off will receive a reply when I return.
Between sessions, the work is yours. The conversations are where the deep work happens. The time in between is where you live the changes. When something comes up, take a moment with it first. Listen to yourself. See what you already know. Often you'll find your own answer. If you still want my eyes on it, reach out and we'll think it through together.
Your three months of access begins on the date of your first session.
8: Session Recordings and Materials
Sessions are not recorded. The work happens in the moment between us, and recordings would not serve the process.
Any written materials, exercises, or resources I share with you are for your personal use only. They cannot be shared, sold, copied, or distributed.
9: Confidentiality
I take your privacy seriously. Everything we discuss in sessions is confidential, unless:
- You give me permission to share it
- I am required by law to disclose it
- There is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or in cases of fraud, crime, or involvement of minors
If I ever want to use anything you have said for my marketing, whether anonymised or with your name, I will always ask for your explicit written permission first.
10: Intellectual Property
All materials, tools, and content I provide remain my intellectual property. You are welcome to use them for your own personal growth, but you may not copy, share, sell, or use them commercially without my permission.
11: Your Responsibility
When we work together, I bring my skills, attention, and full presence. You bring your honesty, willingness, and commitment to the process. This includes:
- Being an active participant in the work, not a passive recipient
- Being open to exploring what has been keeping you stuck, even when it feels uncomfortable
- Arriving on time, sober, and giving at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule
- Creating a quiet, distraction-free space for our online sessions
- After your session, allowing yourself some gentle time to integrate. Please do not jump straight into driving, intense work, or parenting duties. Rest, move, eat something nourishing, journal, nap, or take a quiet walk. Sleep is especially restorative after the first session.
12: Health Considerations for Stopping Smoking
Stopping smoking is one of the best things you can do for your long-term health, but it can interact with certain conditions and medications. By working with me, you confirm that:
- You have considered any heart, lung, or circulation conditions and have spoken to your GP if relevant
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you have discussed quitting with your midwife or healthcare provider
- If you are taking prescription smoking cessation medications (such as Chantix, Wellbutrin, or nicotine replacement therapy), you understand that any changes to those medications must be discussed with your prescribing doctor, not with me
- If you are being treated for mental health conditions, you have spoken to your treating clinician
- You understand that I am not a doctor, therapist, or pharmacist, and my work does not replace medical care
13: Limitation of Liability
I am here to support you, but you take full responsibility for your choices, actions, and results. To the fullest extent allowed by law, I am not liable for any loss, damage, or injury that may arise from your participation in my services.
14: Concerns or Complaints
If something comes up for you, please tell me. I value honest communication and will always do my best to resolve issues in good faith.
15: Changes to These Terms
I may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be on my website at https://www.thenonsmoker.com/terms-and-conditions
16: Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, no matter where you are located.
17: Contact Me
If you have any questions about these Terms and Conditions, please send me a message on Facebook Messenger.
